Machteld van Werven

Machteld van Werven works as a lawyer in migration and asylum law. She graduated from Leiden University, majoring in Juvenile Law.

Machteld assists clients in migration law who want to stay in the Netherlands for family reunification, work, study, medical or humanitarian reasons. She also supports clients in asylum procedures. She also specializes in nationality law and statelessness and related (international) descent issues.

Before Machteld started as a lawyer in 2018, Machteld worked as a legal assistant at a law firm and as a legal assistant in the Children's Rights & Migration department of Defense for Children.

Machteld van Werven is chairman of the migration working group of the Netherlands Jurists Committee for Human Rights. She is also a member of the migration working group of the Association for Women and Law, the Specialist Association for Migration Lawyers (SVMA) and the Working Group Legal Aid for Foreigners (WRV).
